Thrummed Mittens

Learn how to make these wonderfully warm and fun mittens that have tufts (thrums) of wool knitted into the fabric and which originated in Newfoundland. Using a heavy worsted/aran weight yarn, these mittens knit up quickly and make great gifts for others or yourself.  

Hélène Driesen will guide you all the way and provide you with a pattern to take home. 

A materials kit is included in the class fee. The kit includes yarn and fiber locally-dyed by Dirty Water Dyeworks and a printed pattern. There are 6 colorways to choose from!

Needles are not included, you will need a set of size 8 double pointed needles or a size 8 circular needle of a comfortable length for Magic Loop. If you are a particularly loose knitter, you will need size 7s.

We will have needles available in the shop at a student discount if you need to purchase them.

What to bring: Completed homework! After signing up, pop into the shop to pick up your kit and get your short homework assignment.

Level: Adventurous beginner.

Prerequisites: How to knit in the round, increase and decrease.

Date/Time: Saturday, September 14, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
