Thrummed Slippers

Join South End Yarn Co. and Hélène Driesen of Kieran Knits to learn how to make these toasty warm slipper socks that have tufts of unspun wool knitted into the fabric. Stephanie at Dirty Water Dyeworks has again created some wonderful kits for the class that include a skein of locally-dyed yarn and combed wool top.

These slippers are made from the cuff down and incorporate a short row heel.

During this 2.5 hour class, you will learn how to create the thrums and knit them into the fabric. The materials kit is included in the class fee. It includes a pattern, yarn and combed top. 

Needles are not included, you will need a set of size 8 double pointed needles or a size 9 circular needle of a comfortable length for Magic Loop. If you are a particularly loose knitter, you will need size 8s.

We will have needles available in the shop at a student discount if you need to purchase them.

What to bring: Completed homework! After signing up, pop into the shop to pick up your kit and get your short homework assignment.

Level: Adventurous beginner.

Prerequisites: Familiarity with German short rows and knowing how to knit in the round.

Date/Time: Saturday, February 8, 1:30 to 4:30 pm. 

This class will run with 2 to 6 students.
